The cruise industry is an always-changing environment. Every year, the cruise lines inaugurate several new ships – they are more modern, more innovative, usually bigger in size, and bring more and more attractions to the guests. In 2017, eleven new ships are entering service around the world. And they promise to be more advanced than ever.
It will be possible, for instance, to ride a kart onboard, watch a Cirque du Soleil show with the Mediterranean as background or even walk on a glass floor over the ocean and feel like you’re flying!

Tailored for the Chinese passenger, the Majestic Princess is one of the bigger ships entering service this year. Also being built in Italy, the 3,500-passenger ship is Princess Cruises’ newest fleet addition and will be sister to the existing Royal and Regal Princess. At 143,000 tons, it will also have a Chinese name! 盛世 公主号, meaning “Great Spirit” or “Great World”.
The pool area is one of the coolest features of the Majestic. It not only features two pools, but also a giant movie screen (for Princess’ famous “Movies under the Stars” program) and dancing fountains. On the inside, the ship was designed to the Chinese, so expect features like a Tea Room and Mahjong. Also, they love to shop, so there will be lots of stores onboard. Majestic Princess debuts in March, with a series of cruises in the Mediterranean, before heading to China in May. Another cool feature: the SeaWalk, a glass platform projected to the outside of the ship, where you can feel like if you’re flying. Learn more about this ship here.
